DEACONESS GERALDINE SHEFFIELD MORRIS, was born September 7, 1942, to Mr. & Mrs. Leslie (Ethel Hicks) Sheffield, Sr.

Geraldine was the owner/operator of “Home Away From Home” as a home daycare provider.

Geraldine took on the role of being a loving wife to Tommy B. Morris, II who preceded her in death. Her life wasn’t complete until she became a strong, loving mother to Tameka (Muhammad) Morris-Mustafa, Tommie Morris, III and a stepson, Jeff Hickenbottom.

She is a graduate of Central High School, Bishop State Community College-Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Auburn University– Associate Degree in Business.

Geraldine was a member of First Baptist M. B. C. Of Baltimore Street where she was a committed member that served as secretary for the deaconess, and counselor for the youth choir.

Geraldine also served as president of S.A.F.C.O: South Alabama Family Care Organization for home daycare providers.

You couldn’t beat her wearing a hat. She always said “a hat just makes you feel special.” During her brief illness, she demanded that her son bring her clothes because “that gown just wasn’t her and she couldn’t be cute in it.”

Geraldine is survived by one brother, Leslie (Juli) Sheffield; one sister, Wanda (Paul) Piepho; one aunt, Odette Tyus; two sisters-in-law, Annie B. Williams and Marilyn Morris; one brother-in-law, Pastor Eugene (Doris) Morris; seven grandchildren: Sheridan, Trinity, Mikhail, Marquez, Desyia, Cameron and Jeffery. two Goddaughters: Tomika Nodd and Joan “Dodie” Giles; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; one devoted childhood friend: Ann Giles; a devoted neighbor, Deloris Lagley. She was loved and will be truly missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at First Baptist Church Of Baltimore Street, 1200 Baltimore Street, Mobile, AL.

Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL.
